Need help re AC conversion to watts/amps?

Our company exhibits at trade shows; my boss asks me to make sure there is a 110AC outlet available for our booth. However, whenever I get an application to request electricity, the forms request amps and watts, such as '5 Amps-600Watts', etc. If I need 110AC, which level of Amps/Watts should I request? Thanks.

  1. The basic 120VAC (same as 110AC) outlet that is available is going to either be 15 Amps or 20 Amps. Since the trade show is asking for that level of detail they are probably looking to split those individual outlets among several booths. What will you be powering up in your booth? a single computer? 2 computers?, something else? You need to find out what you will need power for. Look at each piece of equipment on the back (or bottom) to find out how much power (Watts) it draws. Add up all the Wattages and tack on an additional 10% or 20%. The number of Amps is simply the number of Watts divided by 120. If it is 2 computers (with monitors and printers), only, then 1000 Watts should be more then sufficient. .
  2. Watts = amps X volts. So just plug in the numbers once find out what all you will be using at the trade show.
