Trade Show Exhibit Display Booths

Do trade show attendees pay in advance for purchases???

You can't imagine how difficult it has been to get this information! I have to attend the next MAGIC show in Vegas and will be showing a brand new line of men's clothing. This is my first trade show and I do NOT know if the attendees who come to our booth and want to place orders have to pay for them right then and there. Obviously, as I will need their entire payment to go back home and get their product order MANUFACTURED, it would be fantastic if they paid right then and there. Does anyone know anything about this?? The MAGIC staff does not have information about this for me. I called and spoke to several people there in the last month and still cannot get an answer.

  1. It's up to you to set the terms of the sale. Normally, with a well established retail outlet, your would offer them 2% 10, net 30, which means you will give them a 2% discount if they pay within 10 days of delivery and the bill is due in 30 days. This is a little risky, but you could go ahead and take orders, show the purchase orders to a bank or lender, and borrow the money you need to complete the orders. Unless you have a very unique product that retailers are fighting over or the retailers credit is bad, I have never heard of charging up front for orders.
