Tollroads use your tolltag info to show drivetime between tollbooths -- is this an invasion of privacy?

Some tollroads use the tolltag information to figure out how long it is taking cars to get from booth to booth. They then display this information as drive time between booths. Is it ethical to use this information this way? They are essentially tracking you as you drive along.

1. Yes it is and if you don't like it, give them back their toll tag.
2. I think they do that to be able to prove you were speeding without having to pay a cop to give you a ticket! I heard that in West Virginia, they're also starting to photograph your license plate as you go through each toll booth, so they can track you that way, as well. I think it sucks

4. Your reasonable expectation to privacy when driving on a tollway, where you willingly purchased the toll tag, is considerbly lower than if you were sitting in your house. Privacy exists on many levels. The same privacy you can expect when you are sitting in your home is not applicable when you are out in public. Also, when you would need to look at whatever paperwork you signed when you purchased the tag itself. I am willing to be that it is dislosed somewhere in that fine print and legal jargon that they will do things of that nature, and by purchasing said tag you are giving implied consent to allow this to take place. Companies are good about making sure that you have all that information even if you do not take the time to read it. Remember, ignorance of the law is not an excuse. In this case, ignorance of what is in the signed agreement is not an excuse.
5. Absolutely not....you voluntarily buy the card and give your info knowing how it will be used. You have no reasonable expectation of privacy

You would seem to be assuming that the toll authority is tracking the amount of time it takes *you* to drive between toll booths, and not just tracking the amount of time it takes one of their tags. Isn't it possible they are tracking just the tag, and not bothering to collect or collate the information in such a way as to know how long *you* are taking? And come on...you really think even if they're tracking how long it takes you to drive between two points that it would be invading your privacy? What privacy do you feel you have on a roadway as to the speed you drive?
